Introduction from our Team Vicar Sharon
Autumn is almost upon as I write this! I’m really enjoying English weather again after 6 years away from it! Amazing what you miss!  Yes even the rain!   I am looking forward to the church roof being fixed in September.  I am also really enjoying getting to know the community of Burton Lazars!  It was so good to see so many of you at the recent Songs of Praise service!  Thank you for all your support and for all of you who took part in our Prize Draw too!  It really helps support St James, especially as we are in the midst of repairing the church roof!  Together we raised £800 to help our funds for repairing St James.  Thank you for your kind generosity!
Our Sunday Club for Children held on the 1st Sunday of the month is changing format!  Children will meet in Church at 11am and shortly after the start of the service will leave with leaders and go to the Village Hall for 30-40 minutes of fun and teaching and then will return to church for communion or blessing in the church.  The service will end at approximately noon all welcome!
Harvest Festival is upon us soon and before I know it Advent and Christmas will loom!
Time flows onwards and the cycle of seasons and festivals marks the agricultural year, the social year as well as the Church Year.  Once upon a time it was all weaved within each other with the church the pub and the village all encouraging the community to come together to mark  these special festivals with get togethers.   In the dark months of winter it provided a time of festivity whether it be to give thanks for a good Harvest, prepare for the winter months during Advent and of course the great festival of Christmas.
I hope St James Church can help you get to know new people, and celebrate the festivals so much part of our village community. We regularly hold special services to welcome old and new friends alike! Look out for our social do’s too planned for the coming year!   There will surely be something to suit you!

Care of St James
The latest care and repair job for St James has been sorting out the roof after the lead theft. Water has been leaking in during heavy rain and now my towel cupboard is half empty as they are all on the floor of the church on and off! We are nearing a decision about replacing the stolen lead and obtaining a faculty from the Diocese.
The Lime Trees have had a good trim so visibility is maintained. My thanks for this go to the 2 new members of our working party, Sharon’s husband Paul and his friend Tony!! If you would like to join future working parties for the churchyard….do let us know.
If you would like to know more how you can help care for St James church financially or with practical help please contact Julia our Church Treasurer on 07949519808 email julia.hinde@hotmail.com or Janet King & Jenny Pengelly, we are always very grateful for offers of practical help and value your continued financial support.
